Pre-Track Day Homework

1. Master the Track Before You Attack: First of all stop going for track records your first day out🤣😂 Taking the time to learn every curve and straightaway is an essential step in guaranteeing a successful and safe track day🏎️ Full sending on a fresh course is the fastest way to make a track day insurance claim😂 you need to know where to send and how to set yourself up for back to back turns. Some tracks are forgiving, some really aren't 🤕💥
2. Gotta go slow before you can go fast. Naturally, there's a lot of temptation when you get on track to go and set a record. Even if it's your first time out 🤣 As lovers of speed we want to go fast, and when reality hits that we aren't as fast as we thought... it can be discouraging😪 You have to remember that most people will only post their best times, not showing the moments off-line or even off-track. The reality is, each new lap will not be a personal best, and that's okay! This is what progress looks like. Just wait till we're back at Laguna 😂 watch all this sim time pay off 😮‍💨😮‍💨
3. Any racing/driving coach will tell you your first couple sessions are about getting comfortable with your car and with the track. Regardless of what you're driving. Learn the racing line and braking zones, think about where you're downshifting and what gears you're using in different part of the track. Familiarize yourself with the flaggers and what each flag means. Get use to the transfer of weight around each turn and slowwwly find your limit.
4. Pay attention in drivers meetings, learning from others' mistakes is much cheaper than at your own expense. There is ALWAYS something to learn regardless of your skill level or experience.
5. BONUS ‼️ Make sure you have track day insurance!! Your regular car insurance provider probably doesn't have a policy for at the track so make sure you check out an alternative. Some companies we'd recommend checking out are @opentrackdrive @locktonmotorsports @ontrackinsurance and of course you've probably already heard of @hagerty (‼️NOT SPONSORED‼️)
